Service Description
Spend the day immersed in the dramatic, unpredictable world of Raku firing. This hands-on experience guides you through glazing, firing, and post-firing reduction — creating beautifully unique pieces marked by crackle, smoke, and flame. Fast, exciting, and experimental, Raku is perfect for potters looking to explore an alternative firing process in a supportive small-group setting. ► What’s Included • Full-day workshop (approx. 5–7 hours) • Expert guidance throughout glazing & firing • Use of Raku kiln, glazes, fuel & materials • PPE and full safety briefing • Relaxed communal lunch included • Small group (10–12 participants) for hands-on experience ► Bisque Ware is not included and can be purchased on the day. • Small–medium: £8–£10 • Larger / complex: £12–£15 • Most participants fire 2–4 pieces ►Bring Your Own Bisque • First 4 pieces: FREE (max 12cm x 12cm) • Additional pieces: £5–£7 each • Must be suitable for Raku (checked before glazing) ►FAQ • Experience? Basic ceramics experience recommended • How many pieces? Typically 2–4 depending on size/time • Large pieces? Subject to approval + possible extra charge • Breakages? Part of the Raku process — expected risk • What to wear? Old clothes, closed shoes, tied hair • Lunch? Provided — advise dietary needs in advance • Take home? Same day once cooled & cleaned
