Service Description

Discover the art of wheel throwing in this immersive 5-day intensive. Designed for complete beginners, this course guides you through the full process—from centring clay to creating your own functional pieces. With a maximum of 5 participants, you’ll receive focused, hands-on tuition in a relaxed studio environment. Over the week, you’ll build confidence on the wheel, refine your technique, and create a small collection of cups, bowls, and mugs. ► Learning Outcomes By the end of the course, you will be able to: ✅ Confidently centre clay and throw clean cylinders and bowls ✅ Trim and refine forms into balanced, functional pieces ✅ Make and attach handles to create mugs and usable ware ✅ Apply surface decoration techniques and understand the glazing process ✅ Create a small collection of finished functional pottery ► Included • All materials (clay, tools) • Bisque firing of your work • Glazing available as a separate session (approx. 2 weeks after) • Collection: Email us after 2 weeks to arrange (4-week collection window) ► Accommodation Discounted Rushmere Farm accommodation is available for Fatclay participants — please get in touch if you’d like to book. ► Details • Minimum age: 16+ • Maximum 5 participants • Course runs with a minimum of 2 bookings • Please keep nails short for this hands-on course ► Payment & Attendance • Payment plans available—please contact us • Missed days cannot be rescheduled ► Cancellations • Bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable • Group bookings (5+) require a 50% deposit, with the balance due one week prior
